Good Morning world, from way over here in my little corner in Cairo, Egypt! I hope that everyone has a fun-filled, safe and relaxing weekend ahead.
I'm enjoying my third cup of morning coffee :) right now while I'm trying to get a little writing done. Sorry I missed you yesterday. I spent the morning baking a molasses/gingerbread cake. I had never baked one before, and I was absolutely amazed at how delicious it turned out to be! It was another fantastic recipe that I got off of the internet. If you would like to try it, here's the link http://www.cooks.com/rec/doc/0,176,152180-253194,00.html. I promise you won't be disappointed. The only thing that I did different was I added 1/4 tsp of allspice. Then when it was almost completely cooled, I iced it with this icing recipe http://www.tasteofhome.com/Recipes/Easy-Vanilla-Buttercream-Frosting. It was absolutely scrumptious! After that, I spent the rest of the morning, into the afternoon with my granddaughter. Needless to say, I didn't get a whole lot of writing done. I did write a couple of new poems for submission to Underneath the Juniper Tree though :)
My stay here in Egypt has been a very interesting one this time due to all of the changes that have taken place after the revolution. I'm usually out and about visiting people and doing a lot of sight-seeing, but this time it's been more of a hang out with family type of thing more than anything else. The bad thing about it here is that it is so hard to get my hands on any good books or magazines in English. I know that they exist, but unfortunately I live very far from the area that has some good book stores and I don't have a car :( So I'm going bananas being unable to read a good book! I know that I can read online, and I do to a certain degree, but in my opinion, there's nothing like reading a book!
Well, I've probably rattled on quite enough, so I'm going to go grab that fourth cup of coffee and get down to business. I hope that you all join me again tomorrow. Until then, have a blessed day :)
